GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, May 30, met Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and reviewed major railway infrastructure projects in the state, including over 1,300 km of track expansion and the redevelopment of more than 50 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The meeting focused on accelerating railway projects, strengthening connectivity and upgrading passenger facilities across Assam.
Sharing details on social media platform X, Sarma said discussions centred on strengthening Assam’s railway network and accelerating infrastructure projects aimed at improving transportation facilities across the state.
The review comes as the Centre pushes ahead with large-scale railway investments in the Northeast to improve connectivity, support freight movement and drive regional economic growth.
The ongoing projects are expected to strengthen Assam’s integration with the national railway network while improving travel and logistics infrastructure.
