GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam has shown signs of gradual improvement, although the overall toll continues to rise, with the cumulative death count reaching 85, according to the latest flood bulletin.

While floodwaters have receded in several areas, 1,36,203 people continue to remain affected across the state.
Sivasagar remains the worst-hit district and is also the only district where two people are still reported missing.
Authorities have opened 54 relief camps and relief distribution centres to shelter and assist affected residents.
The floods have also impacted the state's livestock, with 24,460 animals reported to be affected.
Relief and restoration efforts are underway in the affected districts as the administration continues to monitor the situation and provide assistance to flood-hit communities.
