GUWAHATI: Assam swimmers have secured four medals, including a gold, two silver and a bronze, at the ongoing 52nd Junior National Aquatic Championship 2026 being held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from August 18 to 23.

On the opening day, Jahnavi Changmai clinched gold in the Group 1(A) girls’ 50m butterfly event with a timing of 28.42 seconds. Tirthank Pegu won silver in the Group 1(A) boys’ 50m butterfly, clocking 25.02 seconds, while Subhrashini Priyadarshini secured silver in the Group 1(A) girls’ 1500m freestyle with a timing of 18:09.67.
On the second day, Pegu added another gold to Assam’s tally by winning the Group 1(A) boys’ 400m individual medley (IM) in 4:34.94. Changmai also claimed a bronze in the Group 1(A) girls’ 50m freestyle, finishing in 27.74 seconds.
Assam Swimming Association secretary Bhaskar Das congratulated the medal winners for their performances at the national championship.
