GUWAHATI: Assam emerged as the top-performing contingent at the 13th Northeast Zone Shooting Championship 2026, winning 80 medals, including 39 gold, 21 silver and 20 bronze.

The championship in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun NR events was held from August 25 to 30 at the Assam Rifle and Shooting Association, Guwahati Sports Shooting Range, 4th APBn Complex, Kahilipara, Guwahati.
Meghalaya finished second with 37 medals, comprising 13 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze. Manipur secured 31 medals, including seven gold, 15 silver and nine bronze, while Mizoram won 22 medals, comprising 11 gold, seven silver and four bronze.
Nagaland secured 17 medals, including six gold, four silver and seven bronze. The Assam Rifle Marksmanship Unit won 12 medals, comprising seven gold, three silver and two bronze.
The Army secured three medals, including two gold and one bronze, while Sikkim won one silver medal.
The six-day championship brought together shooters from across the Northeast and featured competitions in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun NR events.
