Assam's Nagaon HPC Bye-Election: Nomination Papers of 18 Candidates Found Valid


 

GUWAHATI: The scrutiny of nomination papers for the 2026 bye-election to the Nagaon HPC was completed on Friday, with the papers of 18 out of 25 candidates found valid.

The scrutiny process was conducted to determine the validity of the nomination papers submitted by the candidates contesting the bye-election. 

Among the candidates whose nomination papers were declared valid are Devasish Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Md. Badruddin Ajmal of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and Sibamoni Bora of the Indian National Congress (INC).

Candidates who wish to withdraw their candidature can do so until September 19. The final list of candidates will be determined after the withdrawal process is completed.
