Bongaigaon Medical College Gets Approval for 100 MBBS Seats, Assam Total Rises to 1,925


 

GUWAHATI: Bongaigaon Medical College (BMC), Assam’s 15th medical college, has received approval to admit 100 MBBS students, taking the total number of MBBS seats in the state’s government medical colleges to 1,925.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, on Friday, August 21, granted permission to Bongaigaon Medical College to admit 100 MBBS students.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to X to thank the Union Health Ministry for granting the approval.

“My heartfelt gratitude to Shri JP Nadda, Hon’ble Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, for his continued support and for granting this approval,” CM Sarma said.

The foundation stone of the 200-bedded Bongaigaon Medical College and Hospital was laid by CM Sarma on December 5, 2022, at a function held at North Bongaigaon Stadium Playground.

With the approval, Bongaigaon Medical College becomes Assam’s 15th medical college and will add 100 MBBS seats to the state’s government medical colleges.
