This initiative, according to the legislator, is to reduce plastic menace.
The MLA said these 100 plastic bottle disposal banks will be emptied once in a week by climate-oriented NGOs.
“People indiscriminately throw plastic waste all over the place. Every year, GMC and other organisations recover plastic waste amount to several trucks,” Bordoloi said.
One of the main reasons for artificial flooding is because of plastic and non-biodegradable wastes choking our drains and outlets, the MLA said.
Plastic is a non-biodegradable material, which does not decompose easily. The MLA urged the people of his constituency to use these plastic disposal banks efficiently.
