GUWAHATI: Guwahati Police on Thursday, September 10, arrested a person for allegedly accepting bribes from individuals on the promise of helping them obtain liquor licences.

The arrested person has been identified as Debolina Patowari, a resident of Narengi in Guwahati.
Patowari was apprehended by Garchuk Police based on a complaint from three persons.
Police sources said that she collected about ₹14 lakh from a few persons, promising to provide an on-shop IMFL license in return.
She is an employee of Guwahati Smart City Limited, according to sources.
“Three people filed a complaint with us. After receiving the complaint, we arrested her and sent her to jail today,” a police official said.
The police official said that further probe was underway.
