Guwahati to Get New Sub-Registrar Offices for Easier Property Registration


 

GUWAHATI: At the inauguration of the new Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Guwahati, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced plans to establish around nine to ten new sub-registrar offices across the city to make land and flat registration services more accessible.

He said the move would reduce repeated visits by citizens to registration offices, while greater powers would be delegated to ‘Sama Jila’ offices to simplify the registration process.

Sarma also stressed the need to make government offices more senior citizen-friendly. He directed officials to ensure that elderly citizens do not have to stand for long periods while accessing government services. He also made CCTV installation mandatory in every room and corridor of the commissionerate office.

The Chief Minister further said the government was considering a 12-storey central office complex to bring 59 departments in Guwahati under one roof.

A new chapter in the administrative infrastructure of Kamrup Metropolitan district began on Wednesday, August 19, with the formal inauguration of the newly constructed Integrated Commissionerate Office in Guwahati.
