According to the IMD, Assam and Meghalaya are expected to receive heavy rainfall on June 28 and from July 1 to July 3. Isolated places may experience very heavy rainfall on June 29 and 30. Thunderstorms with lightning are also likely over both states between June 28 and June 30.

The weather office has also forecast widespread rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura until July 4. Arunachal Pradesh may see isolated extremely heavy rainfall on June 28 and very heavy rainfall on June 29.

The IMD said heavy rain may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, flooding of roads, traffic disruptions, reduced visibility, localised landslides and a rise in river levels. People have been advised to remain alert and follow official weather advisories.

Elsewhere, the IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 28 and 29. Severe heatwave conditions are expected to continue over parts of Uttar Pradesh over the next two days.
