GUWAHATI: Fresh landslides struck Burhapahar in Assam's Nagaon district on Saturday morning after continuous heavy rainfall, disrupting traffic along a crucial national highway stretch.

According to reports, incessant rain since the early hours triggered landslides at five locations, sending rocks and mud onto the highway and partially blocking vehicular movement.
Teams from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Public Works Department (PWD) rushed to the affected sites and launched clearance operations to remove the debris and restore traffic.
During the ongoing clearance work, a truck reportedly met with an accident at one of the landslide-hit spots. However, no injuries or fatalities have been reported.
Authorities have urged commuters to travel cautiously through the area as rain continues to lash the region. Officials have also warned that more landslides could occur in vulnerable locations if the adverse weather persists.
