Kamrup Metro Targets Nearly 2 Lakh Children in Three-Day Pulse Polio Drive from June 28


 

GUWAHATI: The National Immunization Day (NID) will be observed across Kamrup Metropolitan district on Sunday, June 28, with health authorities targeting 1,99,591 children below the age of five under the Pulse Polio immunisation campaign.

The three-day drive, which will continue till June 30, aims to ensure that every eligible child in the district receives the oral polio vaccine.

To facilitate the campaign, the District Health Society has set up 860 polio booths across the district, including 662 general booths, 25 difficult-area booths, 72 institutional booths and 64 transit booths.

Additionally, 37 mobile teams have been deployed to reach children who may otherwise be left out of the vaccination programme.

The immunisation drive will be supported by 51 Medical Officers, 3,222 booth workers and 172 booth supervisors, who have been engaged to ensure the smooth implementation of the programme.

On June 28, children will receive the polio vaccine at designated booths across the district. Those who miss the first day's vaccination or are unable to visit the booths will be covered through door-to-door visits by health workers on June 29 and 30.

The district-level inauguration of the National Immunization Day programme is scheduled to be held at 9:30 am on June 28 at Satgaon Urban State Ayushman Arogya Mandir.
