GUWAHATI: Asian Games gold medallist Lovlina Borgohain has been promoted from Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) by the Assam government’s Home Department.

The promotion comes in recognition of Lovlina’s gold medal-winning performance in the women’s 75 kg boxing category at the Asian Games in Japan, where she made Assam and India proud with her historic achievement.
Lovlina met Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Lok Sewa Bhawan on Tuesday, October 6. The Chief Minister congratulated the boxer on her success and presented her with a cheque of Rs 50 lakh under the state’s Integrated Sports Policy.
Sarma also extended his best wishes to Lovlina and expressed hope that Assam would continue its strong presence in international boxing. He said her achievement would motivate young people across the state to pursue their sporting ambitions.
