GUWAHATI: Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain has secured another Asian Games boxing medal after defeating South Korea’s Seong Suyeon 5-0 in the women’s 75kg quarterfinal on Monday, September 28.

The Indian boxer dominated the bout from the opening round, winning the first round on all five judges’ scorecards. She continued to control the contest in the second round, effectively countering Seong’s attacks and maintaining the pace of the fight.
Lovlina stepped up her attack in the final round, landing quick combinations and keeping her opponent under pressure. The judges once again awarded the round to the Indian boxer, giving Lovlina a 30-27 victory.
With the win, Lovlina has entered the semifinals and assured herself of at least a bronze medal at the Asian Games. She had previously won a bronze at the last edition of the Games and will now look to go further in the competition.
Earlier, Indian boxers Parveen Hooda in the 65kg category and Ankush Panghal in the 80kg category had also secured medals after winning their respective quarterfinal bouts.
