The operation was conducted to enforce the seasonal fishing ban in effect from April to July, a critical breeding period for fish when fishing activities are restricted to protect fish eggs and support natural regeneration of aquatic species.
During the drive, enforcement teams inspected stretches of the river and removed multiple nets used for unauthorised fishing. Officials said certain groups continued to violate the ban despite repeated instructions from authorities.
Speaking to GPlus, an official from the Fisheries Department said, “Such operations will continue throughout this period to ensure strict enforcement of the fishing ban.”
Authorities reiterated that strict action will be taken against violators, stressing the need to conserve aquatic biodiversity and maintain sustainable fish populations in the river system.
