GUWAHATI: A tragic hit-and-run incident was reported in Guwahati late Tuesday night, May 19, where a pedestrian lost his life after being run over by a speeding truck near the Zoo Road Nursery area.

The victim was critically injured after the truck struck him while he was on the road. He was immediately rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment. However, doctors later declared him dead.
The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Kumar Singh, a resident of Nayanpur in Guwahati.
Speaking to GPlus, a traffic police official said the accident involved a truck that rammed into the pedestrian. Following the incident, the driver allegedly attempted to flee the scene. However, local residents managed to intercept and seize the vehicle. The driver reportedly escaped and remains absconding.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, while police have launched an investigation and are trying to trace the missing driver.
