Modi is scheduled to attend the oath-taking ceremony where Sarma will assume office as Chief Minister for a second successive term. Alongside him, four other legislators — including two from the BJP and one each from alliance partners AGP and BPF — are expected to take oath as ministers.

Welcoming PM Modi to the state, Sarma said Assam was set to witness a “historic moment” with the formation of the NDA government for a third straight term. In a message shared on social media platform X, he expressed confidence in Modi’s continued guidance and support for the state’s development.

The ceremony is expected to witness the presence of several high-profile dignitaries from across the country. Senior Union ministers including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Sarbananda Sonowal, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Chirag Paswan have already arrived in Guwahati for the event.

Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from several NDA-ruled states are also attending the programme. Among them are Pramod Sawant, Bhajan Lal Sharma, Devendra Fadnavis, Mohan Yadav and Pushkar Singh Dhami.

Apart from political leaders, the event will also be attended by industrialists, Satradhikars of prominent Vaishnavite monasteries, BJP workers and booth-level party functionaries.
