The two projects cover Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Wards 11, 12, 13, 20, 21 and 27.
The update came during the Question Hour after Guwahati Central MLA Vijay Kumar Gupta sought details on the status of water supply projects in various parts of his constituency. He also raised concerns over the absence of piped drinking water facilities in the hilly areas, where around 80,000 residents continue to depend on private water tankers for their daily water needs.
Responding to the concerns, Rai said the South West Guwahati Water Supply Project aims to provide drinking water connections to around 30,000 households upon completion.
The minister acknowledged that several areas of Guwahati still lack adequate drinking water infrastructure and said the government is committed to expanding water supply coverage across the city.
