GUWAHATI: The Assam Legislative Assembly Secretariat has released the provisional programme of business for the Budget Session of the Sixteenth Assam Legislative Assembly, which will commence on July 6 and continue till July 31, 2026, with recesses and holidays scheduled during the session.

The session will open on July 6 with Question Hour, followed by announcements by the Speaker on the Business Advisory Committee and the Panel of Chairpersons. The House will also take up the laying of ordinances, reports, rules, introduction of government bills, presentation of supplementary demands and the Supplementary Appropriation for 2026–27, along with obituary references.
The Annual Financial Statement (Budget Estimates) for 2026–27 will be presented in the Assembly on July 10.
General discussion on the Budget has been scheduled for July 13, 14 and 15, while the House will remain in recess from July 16 to July 21 for Departmentally Related Standing Committee (DRSC) meetings.
Discussion and voting on demands for grants for 2026–27 will take place on July 22 and 23, followed by the introduction, consideration and passage of the Assam Appropriation Bill, 2026.
Private Members' Business has been scheduled for July 24 and July 31, with Members' Hour, Private Members' Bills and Private Members' Resolutions listed for discussion.
The Assembly will remain closed on July 11–12 and July 25–26 on account of holidays. The Budget Session is scheduled to conclude on July 31 with Private Members' Business, urgent government business, if any, and adjournment sine die.
