Assam Floods: Nearly 47,000 People Affected, 1 Dead; Brahmaputra, Disang Flow Above Danger Level


 

GUWAHATI: Flood conditions persisted in Assam on Wednesday, June 1, with 46,938 people affected across six districts, while the Brahmaputra at Neamatighat and the Disang at Nanglamuraghat continued to flow above the danger level.

According to the latest flood bulletin, the affected districts are Dhemaji, Nalbari, Dibrugarh, Chirang, Lakhimpur and Biswanath.

A total of 221 villages remain inundated, affecting 46,938 people, including 18,742 men, 17,375 women and 10,821 children.

The flood situation has claimed one life, according to the official update.

The state government has set up 10 relief camps, where 468 people are currently taking shelter. In addition, 8,356 people are receiving assistance through relief distribution centres.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the river levels and the flood situation as water levels remain high in several parts of the state. Rescue and relief measures are underway in the affected districts, while officials are keeping a close watch on vulnerable areas as the monsoon continues.
