GUWHAATI: Assam Police apprehended two women, alleged to be illegal Bangladeshi nationals, during an operation aboard the Saraighat Express, which was travelling from Silchar to Howrah, according to DCP (Border) Kulandra Nath Deka.

Police said the operation was carried out based on a tip-off about suspected illegal Bangladeshi nationals travelling on the train. Acting on the information, officers intercepted the train and apprehended the two women.
Police recovered two fake Aadhaar cards from their possession, along with Bangladeshi currency notes of 200-rupee denomination.
Authorities said proceedings have been initiated against the two women under the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950. Their deportation from India is expected to be carried out within the next few days.
