Speaking to GPlus, Sanjib Chowdhury, the Sub-Inspector (SI) of Government Railway Police (GRP) said the girls — students of Class 10 and Class 12 at a government school in Diphu — were allegedly lured by promises of employment opportunities in Delhi. The two left home for school but did not return, prompting concern among family members.
Following their disappearance, the families lodged a missing persons complaint at Diphu Police Station. Acting on the information, Diphu Police immediately alerted law enforcement authorities in neighbouring districts and shared details of the girls.
Based on the input, Bongaigaon Police intercepted a moving train late at night and rescued both minor girls. Three youths travelling with them were taken into custody for questioning.
The girls, along with the detained youths, are being brought back to Diphu for further investigation.
