GUWAHATI: The Governor of Assam has declared 28 May, 2026 (Thursday) as a public holiday on account of Id-ul-Zuha, revising the earlier notified date of 27 May, 2026 (Wednesday).

The decision was taken in pursuance of petitions received, according to an official notification. With the revised order, all offices under the Government of Assam, along with all Revenue and Magisterial Courts across the state, will remain closed on 28 May, 2026.
All banks and financial institutions in Assam will also remain closed on the same day under the Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act, 1881 (XXVI of 1881), read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs notification dated 8 June, 1957.
