GUWAHATI: Aiming to take Assamese cuisine across India, the Assam government proposed to establish authentic Assamese food outlets in the capital city of every state and Union Territory.

“Our Government proposes to encourage entrepreneurs to establish authentic Assamese food outlets in the capital city of every State and Union Territory across India,” Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah announced in the Budget for 2026-27.
According to the proposal, the outlets will be established and managed by entrepreneurs, with the government providing a standardised menu, common branding and a shared logo to maintain quality and consistency nationwide.
The initiative aims to promote Assamese cuisine across the country, enhance the visibility of Assam's local products and create new business opportunities for entrepreneurs.
