One of the accused is a retired Army jawan who was re-employed on a contractual basis with the Indian Army. The second accused has not been named in the statements issued so far.
“As per the intelligence inputs, Assam Police have arrested two persons. One is a retired Army jawan, presently working in the Indian Army in a contractual job,” Sarma said. He added that the arrests were made based on inputs from central agencies.
The two are alleged to have been in touch with Pakistan and to have shared information about Army movements.
“We will hand them over to the central agency,” Sarma said.
The arrests were also mentioned in a police statement. Separately, on October 4, the Assam Special Task Force (STF) arrested a Bihar man in Guwahati over alleged links with Pakistan intelligence.
Further details from the authorities are awaited.
