GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet on Monday approved the distribution of free bicycles to Class IX students for the 2025-26 financial year and cleared the restructuring of the Commissionerate of Taxes, Assam.

The decisions were taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Lok Sewa Bhawan on September 7.
The Cabinet also approved Khel Maharan 3.0, including the ‘Sishu Krida Samaroh’, across all 35 districts during 2026-27.
The programme will begin on November 1 and aims to expand grassroots participation in sports and identify young talent.
Under the Sishu Krida Samaroh, 120 selected Under-12 athletes will receive monthly scholarships of ₹2,000 for two years. Residential coaching camps will be organised in Guwahati, along with advanced training programmes for indigenous coaches.
