Gauhati Medical College Radiology Department Gets NABH Accreditation


 

GUWAHATI: Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Guwahati, has received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH), a constituent board of the Quality Council of India, for a period of four years with effect from May 29.

The accreditation, which covers the hospital's Radiology department across all its wings, was awarded following an assessment conducted on February 15 and 16, 2026. The final certification was received on Wednesday, June 24.

The process was led by Dr. Dipu Bhuyan, Professor and Head of the Department of Radiology, along with the department's faculty. According to the hospital, the accreditation will ensure timely delivery of radiology services and reports as per protocol, with reduced waiting times and streamlined procedures.

Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent Prof. (Dr.) Achyut Ch. Baishya, who issued the press statement, credited Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's push for quality certification across Assam's medical colleges as the impetus for the initiative. He thanked the Superintendent and staff of GMC&H for achieving the milestone.
