The theme will portray the circumstances surrounding the breach of a dam and the resulting devastation through a three-minute visual display on the pond at the puja premises.

The puja committee has allocated around ₹11 lakh for this year’s arrangements, while the props will be prepared by an artist from Beltola.

The Durga idol will be 11 feet tall. Last year, the committee had created a 65-foot Durga idol using waste materials as part of its theme.

This year also marks the 75th year of the puja and its Platinum Jubilee celebrations. As part of the celebrations, competitions in Aarti, art, dance and shankh will be organised on Sasthi, October 16, along with a cultural programme.

The Durga Puja will be organised by the Athgaon Pukhuripar Youth Club.
