GUWAHATI: India's Saikhom Mirabai Chanu delivered a historic performance on Sunday, winning gold in the women's 48kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, marking her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal.

Competing at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow, Chanu set a new Commonwealth Games record with a total lift of 190kg.
This is her third straight Commonwealth gold, following her triumphs at Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022. Chanu returned to top form after an injury setback to secure the win, and it marked India's second weightlifting medal of the Games, coming after Rishikanta Singh won silver earlier the same day.
Chanu, an Olympic silver medallist from Manipur, continues to cement her legacy as one of India's greatest weightlifters, having now medaled at four consecutive Commonwealth Games, silver at Glasgow 2014, gold at Gold Coast 2018, gold at Birmingham 2022, and now gold at Glasgow 2026.
