Ramesh Kumar Takes Charge as Additional General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway


 

GUWAHATI: Northeast Frontier Railway has appointed senior Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer Ramesh Kumar as its new Additional General Manager (AGM). He officially assumed charge on June 1, according to a statement issued by NFR on Wednesday, June 3.

A Civil Engineering graduate from Govind Ballabh Pant University, Nainital, Kumar belongs to the 1991 batch of the IRSE and joined the Indian Railways in November 1992. With over three decades of experience, he has worked extensively in railway infrastructure development, construction, maintenance, and project management across various zones and organisations of Indian Railways.

During his distinguished career, Kumar has held several key positions in South Eastern Railway, the Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA), the Railway Board, and Northeast Frontier Railway. His previous assignments include serving as Assistant Engineer and Divisional Engineer in South Eastern Railway, Deputy Chief Engineer for the Tamluk–Digha New Line Project in West Bengal, Joint General Manager in RLDA, and Director (Land & Amenities) in the Railway Board.

Before taking over as AGM of NFR, Kumar was serving as Chief Project Director (Station Development) in Northeast Frontier Railway. In that role, he was closely associated with station redevelopment initiatives and projects under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).

Kumar has also played a significant role in major railway infrastructure projects, including the Dimapur–Kohima New Line Project, where he served as Chief Engineer (Construction). His experience spans station redevelopment, new line construction, land management, arbitration matters, and infrastructure development in ghat sections of the Chakradharpur Division.

The officers and staff of Northeast Frontier Railway welcomed Kumar on his appointment and expressed confidence that his vast experience and leadership will contribute to the continued growth and development of the railway zone.
