GUWAHATI: A burglary at the Srimanta Sankar Kristi Bikash Namghar in Guwahati’s Paltan Bazar area has triggered concern among devotees and local residents after unidentified miscreants allegedly broke into the religious institution and ran away with cash.

According to reports, the incident took place on Thursday, June 4, when the accused reportedly entered the Namghar by breaking through one of its walls. After entering the prayer hall, the intruders allegedly stole cash kept inside the premises before fleeing the spot.
The theft came to light after members of the Namghar management committee and local residents noticed damage to the structure and discovered that money was missing from the prayer hall.
The incident has raised security concerns among devotees, particularly because it occurred in Paltan Bazar, one of Guwahati’s busiest commercial localities.
Following the incident, police were informed and an investigation has been launched to look into the case.
Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused.
