GUWAHATI: A team from Basistha Police Station apprehended two burglars in connection with a theft case reported from Sanjogi Byelane in Guwahati’s Sixmile area, police said on Monday, June 1.

The accused have been identified as Md. Sahjahan Ali alias Saru (22), a resident of Sipajhar, and Mafijul Hoque alias Moinul (31) from Gauripur.
The duo was arrested following an investigation into a burglary case reported from the Sixmile locality. During the operation led by Officer-in-Charge Kapil Pathak, police recovered several stolen valuables linked to the crime.
The recovered items include three mobile phones, two suspected gold chains with lockets, one suspected gold ring, and five pairs of suspected gold earrings.
During investigation, both accused confessed not only to the burglary at Sanjogi Byelane but also to involvement in multiple theft incidents across Guwahati.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.
