In a special announcement issued by the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department, the government stated that the scheme is expected to resume from August after the newly formed government presents and secures approval for the full budget in July this year.
Authorities, however, clarified that stocks of pulses, sugar and salt allocated for May 2026 that remain available at certain fair price shops will continue to be distributed on a priority basis among Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries.
The department further assured that the distribution of free rice under the existing allocation will continue uninterrupted during the suspension period.
The government has requested beneficiaries across the State to cooperate during the temporary pause in the scheme’s implementation.
