GUWAHATI: Durga Puja celebrations in Guwahati’s Panbazar are set to get a traditional touch this year, with a pandal being designed on the theme of Dashavatar and inspired by the architecture of the Jagannath Temple.

The puja committee has set aside a budget of around Rs 30 lakh for the celebrations, with the pandal and lighting arrangements being sourced from West Bengal. The idol of Goddess Durga, meanwhile, is being crafted by artisans in Guwahati.
The celebrations will mark the 91st year of the puja, adding to its longstanding association with the area. The committee is preparing the arrangements with a focus on presenting the Dashavatar theme through the pandal’s design and overall festive décor.
The Durga Puja will be organised by Sarbajanin Durga Puja & Kali Puja Committee Yubatirtha Club, Railway Trafic Colony, Panbazar.
