Strong winds during the storm blew away the tin roof of the building, causing structural damage and disrupting electricity supply in several parts of the district.
Speaking to GPlus, Senior APDCL official of the Kokrajhar Division, Gopal Sah said that power restoration efforts began immediately after the incident. He added that electricity services in nearly half of the affected areas have already been restored.
“Repair work is going on and we expect power supply to be fully restored by Monday evening, May 18,” Sah said.
Meanwhile, authorities have advised residents to remain alert and avoid coming into contact with fallen electric wires until the restoration work is completed and normal services resume.
