GUWAHATI: Massive traffic congestion is currently being reported on MG Road, particularly on the stretch from ITA Machkhowa to the Brahmaputra Riverfront, with heavy vehicular movement in both directions.

A traffic official said such congestion occurs daily during peak vehicular movement hours.
A senior citizen said traffic movement almost comes to a halt when a large number of vehicles enter the stretch at the same time.
The presence of a large number of green buses has further added to the congestion. Along with the buses, e-rickshaws, commercial cabs, shared local taxis and private vehicles are also using the stretch.
Commuters have raised concerns over the lack of adequate measures by the transport department to address traffic congestion on the stretch.
