The large-scale pre-monsoon maintenance activity is being carried out to ensure the smooth flow of stormwater through highway drainage channels, including roadside drains and culverts situated along the Guwahati Bypass stretch.
The desiltation work is being carried out to minimise waterlogging during the monsoon and ensure safer, smoother travel for commuters using the busy highway stretch every day.
The Guwahati Bypass, a critical stretch connecting several parts of the city and facilitating movement towards Upper Assam and neighbouring states, often witnesses traffic disruptions during the monsoon due to water accumulation.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is undertaking continuous monitoring and timely maintenance activities as part of its commitment to ensure safe, clean, and efficient national highways for the public.
The pre-monsoon works are currently underway at multiple locations across the NH-27 stretch and are expected to continue over the coming days.
