GUWAHATI: Veteran actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75 after suffering a severe cardiac arrest in Goa. One of Indian cinema’s most acclaimed performers, Patekar was known for his powerful performances across Hindi and Marathi films, as well as theatre and television.

According to media reports, Patekar was found unconscious at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. He was rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him with continuous CPR for around 45 minutes. However, he could not be revived and was declared brought dead.
Born Vishwanath Patekar in Maharashtra in 1951, the actor began his film career in the late 1970s with Gaman. Over the years, he carved out a distinct identity with his intense performances, commanding dialogue delivery and nuanced portrayal of complex characters.
Patekar went on to become one of the few actors to win the National Film Award three times. He received the Best Supporting Actor award for Parinda in 1989, the Best Actor award for Krantiveer in 1994, and another Best Supporting Actor honour for Agni Sakshi in 1996.
His contribution to Indian cinema was further recognised with the Padma Shri in 2013.
With a career spanning several decades, Patekar left his mark not only on mainstream cinema but also on theatre and television. His performances and distinctive screen presence earned him a lasting place among India’s most respected actors.
His death has sent shockwaves through the film industry, with colleagues, admirers and fans mourning the loss of a performer whose work continued to leave a strong impact across generations.
