GUWAHATI: A 45-foot-tall depiction of Mahavatar Narsimha will be the main attraction at this year’s Durga Puja celebration at Bhaskarnagar in Guwahati, with the organisers promising an immersive experience featuring visual lighting shows and synchronised sound effects.

The Durga Puja Committee is celebrating the 57th edition of its Durga Puja this year. The 2026 celebration will be centred around the theme “45-Ft Mahavatar Narsimha”, with the pandal designed to offer visitors a visual and audio experience.
The pandal has been designed by an studio in Guwahati while Neelam Das has been engaged as the vendor, with local artisans from Assam involved in the execution of the project.
The organisers have estimated the total budget for this year’s Durga Puja at around ₹35 lakh.
The committee has previously drawn attention for its themed celebrations. In 2025, it created a 55-foot Giant Hanuman, which emerged as one of the major highlights of the festivities. In 2023, its Adiyogi-themed Durga Puja received the Best Lighting Award at the Rotary International Sharad Swikriti Durga Puja Awards.
The 2026 Durga Puja will be held at the Bhaskarnagar Unnayan Samiti Field, Kalapahar.
The celebration is being organised by the Bhaskarnagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee.
