GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, September 11, called for an action-oriented approach within BRICS, emphasising the need to reduce trade barriers, expand startup markets and strengthen business partnerships among member countries.

At the BRICS Business Forum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s approach, “Make in India, innovate with India, scale for the world.”
India is hosting the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, starting today, 12th September.
At the BRICS Business Forum on 11th September, PM Modi emphasised the importance of BRICS, saying, “Naturally, BRICS matters.”
He further highlighted the strength of BRICS by citing statistics indicating that BRICS nations account for almost 50% of the global population and 40% of global GDP.
“50% of humanity and 40% of global GDP,” PM Modi wrote on X.
At a time of multiple global trade barriers and sanctions, PM Modi spoke about making the next decade of BRICS action-oriented. He emphasised removing trade barriers, supporting BRICS startups, and creating business partnerships.
“Remove the top 10 trade barriers,” PM Modi wrote. “Help 100 BRICS startups scale across markets every year. Build 1,000 new business partnerships.”
