793 Flood-Affected Schools in Assam to Receive ₹15.86 Crore in Financial Aid


 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government will ceremonially distribute financial assistance worth ₹15.86 crore to 793 flood-affected schools across Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode on Thursday, August 6.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will preside over the programme, scheduled to be held at Srimanta Sankaradeva International Auditorium in Guwahati, at 12:30 PM. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Keshab Mahanta will also be present.

The financial assistance is being provided under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms, with each eligible school receiving ₹2 lakh to support restoration and recovery following flood damage.

According to the official distribution plan, 550 schools in Sivasagar will receive ₹11 crore, 111 schools in Charaideo will receive ₹2.22 crore, 103 schools in Jorhat will receive ₹2.06 crore, and 29 schools in Golaghat will receive ₹58 lakh.

The assistance aims to help flood-affected educational institutions undertake essential repairs and resume normal academic activities.

The event will also witness the ceremonial distribution of application forms under the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni and Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Babu Aasoni schemes, which are aimed at supporting students across Assam.
