The notices were issued to Akashdeep Karigapsa, Aditya Bezbaruah, Rajibul Haque Molla, Priyanku Majumdar and Madhurjya Hazarika after they reportedly failed to attend field duties for two consecutive days, affecting the ongoing farmer registration process.
The action came following a review meeting chaired by Agriculture and Irrigation Minister Pijush Hazarika with officials of both departments in Hailakandi. Expressing concern over the district's poor farmer registration figures, the minister warned that negligence in official duties would not be tolerated.
Although the minister said the officers could be suspended under the existing standing order, they have been given 36 hours to submit satisfactory explanations before a final decision is taken.
