GUWAHATI: The Assam government has advanced the disbursement of the August instalment under the Orunodoi 3.0 scheme, releasing payments from August 1, two days ahead of the earlier scheduled date of August 3. The revised timeline applies to all beneficiaries enrolled under the state's flagship direct benefit transfer programme.

Under Orunodoi 3.0, eligible women across Assam receive Rs 1,250 every month directly into their bank accounts. The scheme, launched in 2020, was later expanded to cover more than 38 lakh women from economically weaker households, up from around 17 lakh beneficiaries under its earlier version.
This month's release includes an additional relief component. Beneficiaries in the flood-affected districts of Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat and Golaghat will receive ₹2,500 as a one-time special assistance in view of the damage caused by recent floods. The measure is intended to ease the financial burden on families whose homes, crops or livelihoods have been affected.
The funds are transferred through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring beneficiaries receive the assistance directly in their bank accounts. According to the state government, the advance release is intended to help families access financial support sooner as several parts of Assam continue to recover from flood-related losses.
Orunodoi is one of Assam's largest welfare schemes. The state government says the programme has helped strengthen the financial security of women from low-income households. Beneficiaries have been advised to check their bank accounts and report any discrepancies to the district administration or the scheme's helpline.
