GUWAHATI: As many as 23 Assam Police personnel have been awarded the ‘Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak’ 2026 for their contributions in the fields of Special Operations and Investigation.

The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the awards on Saturday, October 31, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
A total of 490 personnel from various States, Union Territories, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) have been selected for the award this year.
Among the Assam Police awardees, 19 personnel have been recognised in the Special Operations field, while four have received the medal in the Investigation field.
In the Special Operations category, the awardees include Commissioner of Police Dr Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Pranab Kumar Pegu (SSP), Kalyan Kumar Pathak (Additional SP), Anurag Sarmah (Additional DCP) and Rosy Talukdar (Additional SP).
The other awardees in the category are Kamlesh Singh, Bhaskar Malla Patowary, Chandan Jyoti Bora, Vikram Basumatary, Dr Sankar Jyoti Nath and Kapil Pathak, all Inspectors; Rohit Das, Ankhumi Kalita, Daisy Nath, Jitumani Rabha and Pranab Jyoti Bhattacharya, Sub-Inspectors; Ahmed Ali, Assistant Sub-Inspector; Kamal Boro, Lance Naik; and Bakul Medhi, Constable.
Meanwhile, four Assam Police personnel have been recognised in the Investigation category. They are Dr V. Siva Prasad Ganjala (SP), Kamal Chandra Rajbongshi (Circle Inspector), Prithwiraj Rajkhowa (Additional SP) and Moauty Basumatary (Sub-Inspector of Police).
The Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak was instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs through a notification dated February 1, 2024. The award recognises excellence in police operations, outstanding investigation work, exceptional performance, daring intelligence services and meritorious contributions in the field of forensic science.
The medal is conferred on personnel serving in State and Union Territory police forces, security organisations, intelligence wings, Central Police Organisations, CAPFs, the National Security Guard and Assam Rifles, among others.
