GUWAHATI: A new tile manufacturing plant was inaugurated in Jamugurihat in Assam’s Sonitpur district on Thursday, October 8, marking the first such manufacturing unit in the Northeast.

The plant has been set up with an investment of ₹250 crore and is expected to generate more than 1,325 employment opportunities, creating new avenues for local talent and strengthening Assam’s growing manufacturing sector.
The facility will have a production capacity of 1 lakh square metres, adding to the state’s industrial infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities.
Moreover, a new dairy processing facility was also inaugurated in Sonitpur on Thursday. The facility has a processing capacity of 20,000 litres of milk per day and is aimed at providing dairy farmers with a ready market for their produce.
The dairy facility is also expected to expand the availability of dairy products for consumers and contribute to strengthening the local economy.
The two facilities are expected to create employment opportunities, support local producers and add to Assam’s emerging manufacturing and processing ecosystem.
