The children were reportedly sitting beneath the flyover and engaging in the act in broad daylight, drawing attention from passersby and local residents.
A nearby shopkeeper, speaking on condition of anonymity, said such incidents are frequently observed in the area, with children often seen carrying and sniffing substances. He alleged that no effective action has been taken so far to address the issue.
Speaking to GPlus, a woman police official from Paltan Bazar Police Station, who was present at the site, said that police regularly patrol the area and warn children involved whenever such incidents are spotted. She said such cases are frequently observed, though immediate action is sometimes constrained due to routine duty responsibilities.
The official added that despite repeated intervention, the issue persists and may be linked to a larger network allegedly operated by a mastermind behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, the Officer-in-Charge of Paltan Bazar Police Station told GPlus that no such cases had come to his notice so far, nor had anyone informed him about the matter. He, however, stated that police take strict action in all drug-related cases and assured that necessary steps will be taken if required.
