GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has approved the construction of a 1.1-km railway overbridge near Hawaipur Railway Station in West Karbi Anglong at a cost of more than ₹155 crore.

The project is aimed at easing traffic congestion in Lanka town and improving connectivity in the area.
The approved project will also include a bypass road from Kheroni Chariali in West Karbi Anglong to NH-27, providing an alternative route for traffic and helping reduce congestion along the existing road network.
The railway overbridge and bypass are expected to improve connectivity and facilitate smoother movement of vehicles in and around Hawaipur and Lanka.
The Cabinet decision forms part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen road and transport infrastructure and address traffic congestion in key areas.
