A Delhi court has remanded the accused to four-day police custody.
Reports stated that according to investigators, the victim, a UPSC aspirant and an IIT graduate, was alone at her home in the Amar Colony area on the morning of April 21 while her parents were out. Police said the accused allegedly attacked her at the residence.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim may have been sexually assaulted before being strangled using a mobile phone charging cable. Officials reportedly added that she also suffered blunt force injuries, suggesting she resisted the attack.
During the investigation, police uncovered further disturbing details. Prior to the incident in Delhi, the accused allegedly raped another woman in his native village in Alwar district of Rajasthan earlier the same day.
According to reports, the survivor in Alwar informed her family about the assault. The accused was reportedly known to the family, with social ties between them, as they had previously lived as tenants in the survivor’s house.
Police said that after the alleged assault in Alwar, the accused travelled to Delhi, where the murder took place. Further investigation is underway.
