GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced a set of special measures ahead of Durga Puja on Thursday, September 24. The decisions include an enhanced Orunodoi payment, a Puja bonus for ATCL employees and tea workers, and an additional holiday for state government employees.

Under the Special Puja Orunodoi provision, all Orunodoi beneficiaries will receive ₹1,500 for October, instead of the regular ₹1,250 monthly amount.
The Cabinet also approved a 20% Puja bonus for ATCL employees and tea garden workers (Cha Shramiks).
In another decision, October 17 will be observed as an additional holiday for state government employees on the occasion of Durga Puja. The additional holiday is intended to compensate for the Puja holiday falling on Sunday, October 18.
