GUWAHATI: Allegations of sexual harassment, inappropriate messaging and other alleged acts of misconduct have been raised against Manash Kamal Gogoi, currently serving as HIMIS Manager under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), Assam.

The allegations were made in a representation submitted by social worker Jugantar Kalita to the Director of Health Services, Assam. The Directorate has now forwarded the representation to the Mission Director, National AYUSH Mission, Assam, for examination and necessary administrative action.
According to the forwarding letter issued by the Director of Health Services, the representation raises serious concerns regarding workplace safety, administrative integrity and the protection and welfare of female personnel working under the State Health Society and NAM, Assam.
The complaint also contains allegations against Gogoi dating back to his previous tenure as a faculty member at Handique Girls’ College, Guwahati. The representation alleges sexual harassment, vulgar and inappropriate messaging, and other acts of moral misconduct during his time at the college.
The letter states that formal complaints were reportedly lodged by students, following which the college authorities allegedly took disciplinary action, including suspension. The matter was also reportedly followed by protests by students and members of the public.
Taking note of the “seriousness and sensitivity” of the allegations, the Director of Health Services forwarded the complaint to the Mission Director, NAM Assam, for examination and “necessary administrative intervention” under applicable rules and procedures.
